Doubletree LAX / El Segundo
The Doubletree LAX / El Segundo is located in El Segundo, a five minutes drive from the airport. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle to the airport starting at 04:00 am in the morning.
It is building with seven floors and looks a bit like a business building.
Parking is free at this hotels and the parking is right in front of the hotel
One enters the hotel and is right in the small lobby with the check in desk on the left side. There, two agents could check in guests, but during off peak time only one agent seems to be on duty.
Opposite to the check in desk is the small lobby with a few lounge chairs, where people could wait for the airport shuttle or for other hotel guests. Further to the left are meeting and banquet rooms while on the other side is the small restaurant, where breakfast is served in the morning. Breakfast is either a buffet or one could order from the written menu. It seems, that the buffet is only available if there is a higher occupancy in the hotel.
The outdoor heated pool and the Jacuzzi are located at the right end of the hotel. This area could be reached by a staircase at the end of the second floor, but also from the higher floor via the (fire) stairs. Towels are available and also a locker / changing room. Located next to the staircase on the second floor is also the gym, which is of smaller size, a few steppers and treadmills are available but nothing for body training. The gym has the typically size of a hotel room. Towels and water are provided for
the use of the guests in the gym. While the gym is open 24/7 the pool is only open from 06:00 to 22:00.
The design of the hotel equals many other chain hotels, not only of the Doubletree brand. Nothing special and no chic and design highlights.

We arrived in the hotel around 19:15 and approached the check in desk, where one agent was on duty. We got a room on the highest floor, but close to the elevator. Luckily, I did not hear anything during the night.
The room was in the typically shape of a hotel room. You enter the room and one is right in the room. The bathroom was on the left side and of average size. It had a bath, toilet and sink. The bathroom was in a really good shape. Bathroom amenities by Neutrogena were available; three big, medium and small towels were placed on the towels rack or lying around the sink. In addition a bucket of flowers (of course not real ones) were placed next to the sink. The showerhead and the shower curtain were okay. However
I would not have minded, if the water pressure would have been a bit stronger. .
The room was of medium size with two single beds on the left side and a bedside table between them, where a lamp, a phone and the Hilton Signature Alarm clock were placed. Opposite the bed was the TV in a board. The desk was placed between window and board. There a reading lamp was available as well as another phone.
The air condition was controlled electronically, but caused some draught. The windows could be opened. In front of the window was a lounge chair and in the corner another reading lamp.
The bed was okay, a large number of pillows were placed on each of the two beds in the room.
Ironing board and iron could be found in the closet as well as a safe.
W-LAN was available for a fee (9.95 USD until noon the same day / 12.95 USD for 24 hours / 19.95 USD for the entire stay); it is free in the lobby.
The breakfast was served in the restaurant. This time, it was an a la carte only breakfast and I decided to stay healthy and took a fruit plate, which consisted of slices of melon, oranges and pineapple.
Check out was smooth and everything was okay. The agent was able to provide a folio which also showed the prepaid amount.
Overall a nice hotel and the rate was okay. I will consider this hotel again for a stay, esp. if for or after a flight. The airport as well as the major highways is easy to reach, however the area around the hotels is very quiet and there is nothing to do in the evening.
