Singapore Changi International Airport
Being dropped off at Terminal 2 by the Shuttle of the Le Meridien Changi Hotel I head for the Raffles Counter. Six Counters were used and it seems there were a lot of passengers queuing at the counters but after closer look I discovered at the most counters were only two passengers queuing. It was the number of open desk, who gave me the first and wrong impression of a probably longer waiting time. The agent had just finished the check
in of the passenger in front of me and so it was only some minutes later and I had my boarding pass. She told me also, that the flight would be very full, as this was a holiday weekend. She also confirmed that my BTC order was on the plane.
At immigration I had to wait a few minutes before it was finally my turn. Half a minute later, I was on my way to the Silver Kris Lounge. The Lounge was full, but I got a seat near the entrance, though I would have preferred a seat more far away form the really busy entry.
By a muffin and some cups of coffee I tried to get awake and used the very slow WiFi of the Silver Kris Lounge. Loading pages took a lot of time (at least with my Laptop) and so I gave it up after some minutes and put some work in my trip report.

I had left the lounge at the boarding announcement changed to last call in the lounge. As I arrived at the gate, there were still passengers queuing for the security check. One lady arrived and went right in front of me, skipping the line and telling me she has to get on this flight to Bali and there was the sign “Last Call”. Well, mustn’t we all get on this flight? She was for sure the first time at Changi and she was German. Well
I let her pass. I passed security myself without further inspection and was able to skip the line at the check-in desk as there was an agent looking for Raffles Class Passengers at the time I was there. Grinned to the lady who skipped the line and wished her in German Language “Good Flight to the same destination were all other passengers at this gate have to fly to”. After I got the immigration form for Indonesia, I went right to the jet bridge and boarded the aircraft. I heard a little boy asking his mother,
why I could take the first entrance and heard his mother saying this for rich people. The boy replied “he does not look like a rich man”.
I looked for my seat put my carry on and laptop into the overhead bin and went to the lavatory. As I returned I took in accident 15K and first get aware of this, at the couple sitting there arrived. I took my stuff and changed.
Headphones and blankets were lying on the seat of this plane, fitted with the Old Seats. They were comfortable with electrically adjustable food rests and back rest. The head rest were adjustable manually. There was not AVOD System but a selection of 12 music and 4 video channels as far as I remember. I did not listen to music or video.
Predeparture drinks were offered, this time apple and orange juice, water and champagne. Very late my seat neighbour arrived, it was TGFlyergirl and one row before us KiwiFlyer and Movie Man. d.a.s. were across the aisle of TGFlyergirl. Hot towel service were offered on the ground as far as I remember. We pushed back a bit early and headed for take off. At 09:42 we took off and was on our way to Denpasar. I chatted a bit with TGFlyergirl. As she noticed I was making some notes of the flight she gave me also the
registration of the aircraft which was 9V SPC. I did not look at this, on the one hand you could not always see it, on the other hand I care more about the flight, not the aircraft. I know, I have been on the same plane twice, but only noticed this after the flight and mostly by accident as I saw the name of the Lufthansa Plane.
In the air the flight attendants offered an individually service for each passenger. A first drink service was done after approximately ten minutes flight time. During this time another flight attendant took meal orders or confirmed the “Book-the-Cook” and addressed me by name.
Meal service started at 10:20 after the tablets were laid with linen.
The menu for this flight had also the food for the flight back in it. And the wine list of SQ is here .
I had decided to go with the “Pan-seared Chilean bass with bouillabaisse sauce, capsicum confit, and kalamata olive potato” from the BTC menu. It was delicious while the other courses were also good. Meal service was finished at 11:05 and we had another hour to go. Flight attendants made several rounds asking if someone likes another drink. I did not drink wine or any other alcohol on this flight, it was a bit early to have a wine in addition to the two glasses
of champagne.
The flight was sometimes a bit bumpy, but with the other flyertalkers on board time passed quickly and I looked down on the Indonesian Islands we passed on our way to Denpasar. During our approach to Denpasar I got a nice view of Jimbaran and the south part of Bali. A nice view. Finally we touched down at 11:53 on Bali and were at our gate at 12:02. We boarded quickly and if you are in Raffles Class you have a big advantage at immigration, if no other plane arrived.
As I reached immigration hall I saw a sign for savage25, who also stayed at the Intercontinental in Jimbaran. He had booked a limousine and offered me a ride and so I decided to wait for him and ask, where we should meet. One of the Intercontinental members saw my Ambassador Luggage Tag and asked if I was staying at the Intercontinental. I agreed, but was only waiting for Savage25, as I did not book a limousine transfer. He offered me the immigration service as a special service and so I got the Club Welcome
Service, I normally was not entitled to get. Well a nice touch.
If I would return to Bali, I will definitively book this service, which is very good as you are in the back of the plane. So the offer was in the sense of customer relationship very good.
