Amsterdam Schiphol

After I had picked up my luggage, I headed over to Terminal 1, where the KLM check-in was located. At Economy Class was a very long line, so I decide to skip the question if I can be booked on an earlier flight and used the self check-in and then the drop-bag counter. This was done in five minutes and I was on my way to security, where a few people were queuing, but it was a short wait. This time no need to put off shoes, but belt and laptop as well as my mobile had to be put in a special basket for screening.
After I passed security I headed for the lounge, where I arrived a bit before 10:00 in the morning. The agent was friendly and the lounge was really empty. Wine – a South African white wine –, beer, soft drinks and coffee, cappuccino and espresso were available. The food selection was very limited, only some chips and cookies were available.

Boarding was scheduled to start at 11:20, so I left the lounge at 11:15 and headed for gate C 21, which was in the lower level and a bus gate. As I reached the gate at some minutes after 11:20, the agent was not even there, but arrived a bit later. Boarding started at 11:35 with boarding the bus, which drove us to our plane parked on the tarmac.

AMS – DUS
[Amsterdam – Düsseldorf]
KL 1857 (KLM Cityhopper); Fokker 50
Gate 21
12:00 – 12:55 [effective 12:00 – 12:45]
Economy Class
Seat 08 A

I was standing at the first door of the bus and therefore able to board the plane as second passengers. I was greeted by a flight attendant and took my seat. The seat beside me was taken, but the plane was not full, so the passengers switched to one of the empty seats in the front of the single class configured plane.

After the seat belt signs were switched off, the two flight attendants distributed bottled orange juice and some minutes later a roll. After this service the flight attendants disappeared for the rest of the flights as on the flight to Amsterdam on the 18th August and returned only to collect the cans and trash. The flight itself was uneventful, seat belts signs were switched off and later on because of some bumps (I would not call this turbulence).

The captain informed us that we will arrive ahead of schedule.

The plane was in the same condition as on my flight to Amsterdam, you see the old age of the plane.

We touched down at Düsseldorf at 12:40 and arrived at our parking position on the tarmac five minutes later. We were brought by bus to the terminal, where we arrived five minutes later.

The luggage arrived ten minutes later, I had to wait some more minutes for my trolley, but if finally made it after a few minutes. I headed to the exit, where I was greeted by my parents, who brought me back home.
