Düsseldorf Interneational
My father had offered to bring me to Düsseldorf Airport, which I accepted. Although this means I would arrive earlier than necessary due to the potential risk of getting stucked in a traffic jam on the motorways in early morning rush hour, it is more convenient, especially, if you travel with a bit more luggage. On this trip I checked luggage, as I had to carry more things than usual on such a short trip.
We arrived Düsseldorf Airport half an hour after we have left my flat around 06:35 and my father dropped me right at the entrance where the Lufthansa check in facilities were located. I used the First Class Counters, which were empty. I was checked in very fast and my luggage was checked to PHL and got the usual “Priority” sticker. Like on my previous flights on US, the boarding pass for the US Airways flight came with the M/M sign on it. Just another lack of proper data exchange between airlines belonging to the same airlines alliance.
Security was fast and again no one was in front of me, so I passed security quite quickly despite the fact that my laptop bag was manually searched. I headed for the Senator Lounge for some coffee and to read a bit in today's newspapers.
Boarding was scheduled for 07:55, but delayed by 5 minutes. I was among the first to board using the self boarding facilities.

DUS – FRA
[Düsseldorf – Frankfurt]
LH 805 (Lufthansa); Airbus A 320 (D-AIQH / Dessau)
Gate A 71
08:25 – 09:25 [effective 08:26 – 09:10]
Economy Class
Seat 09 C
I was greeted at the entrance by two flight attendants and headed to my seat, stored my belongings in the overhead compartment and took my seat. I had an aisle seat and the window seat was taken, but the middle seat remained empty and my seat neighbour did not mind as I converted it into a business class seat as the announcement “boarding completed” was made. The plane was empty and from my memory, the most people had the next seat free and even some rows were empty, so a very light load.
We pushed back in time at 08:26. During push back the safety demonstration was done by the crew. We taxied to our runway for our short scheduled 30 minutes hop to Frankfurt. We took off in Western direction at 08:35 and than made a turn towards the south flying down to Frankfurt. As usual, the flight was uneventful and there was no service done in Economy on this short flight to Frankfurt.
We arrived at Frankfurt from Western direction after passing Mainz and Wiesbaden at 09:02. Like so many times in Frankfurt, we had a bus gate. We arrived at our bus gate at 09:10 and could disembark through the front and the back door of the plane. Only one bus was used to shuttle the passengers to the terminal.
