Moorea Temae Airport We arrived at the airport around 05:40 and parked our rental car on the parking. The check-in facilities of Air Moorea were not open yet. We took a seat and waited a few minutes until the check-in counter were opened. We checked in for the flight and then waited until the representative of AVIS opened the AVIS boot at MOZ, so we could give back the rental car. As this was done, we waited for the plane to arrive. Like on our flight to Moorea there were not printed real boarding pass, you just get a sheet of laminated paper you gave back while boarding.
At 06:15 we heard the plane and soon later saw it rolling to the terminal of Moorea Airport. The plane seems to be full or nearly full. It must have been passengers from the early morning arrival of the Air France flight from Los Angeles. As the passengers have disembarked and headed for the terminal, the boarding announcement was made and we headed for the gate and a few steps later we were boarding the waiting Twin Otter turboprop plane. 09 January 2010 Rcs85551 and I took seat in the first row just behind the cockpit, which was not closed and therefore you get a really good impression of the cockpit and the pilot flying the plane. As boarding was completed, the pilot welcomed us onboard and taxied for the runway and just seconds later we were accelerating and climbing into the morning sky above Moorea.
A ferry had just left the port of Moorea and headed also for Papeete. Again it was amazing to flow in such low altitude. You can see everything on the ground – or in this case the sea.
Simply amazing it is, sitting in such a small plane is another feeling than being on a big jet. In addition to watch the pilot working in the cockpit and see how he pushes buttons and did all the other things in the cockpit is something you unfortunately could not see that often in this times, since cockpit doors have to be closed. Another nice experience of flying ... |
