Conclusion

Where to start in summarizing this trip? Lufthansa was again good and not so good. Of course, it is not very nice if a trip starts with a delay because of a technical problem. But of course one wants to fly on a plane which flies without problems. And for sure it causes more problems if a technical problem happens in the air and you have to return. In so far, I do not blame Lufthansa for this delay. Better fix a problem before the plane takes off.

The A380 will not be my favorite plane if I have to fly in Economy Class, it is simply too big. Also the first row in each cabin does not necessarily mean more legroom. These seats are even worse, as legroom is limited and the only advantage to a regular seat is nobody is reclining into your space. There are some good seats, but one should try to get a seat in the very first part of the cabin. These seats will soon be Premium Economy seats making this a private cabin with the advantage of a quick possibility to disembark. I will try this new cabin if Premium Economy becomes available later this year. Service was okay, the purser was very attentive and so where most members of the crew.
Not on the flight back to Dusseldorf, where the purser talked to me but only to convince me to shift seats. What surprises me, as she addressed me she seems not to be aware that I was Senator. I think if one is asking a passenger for a seat change, one should know at least the name and a possible elite status. And this was the only contact with her; I was not addressed by name and also received no other recognition on this flight. I have mentioned it a couple of times that I really do not need it, but it is nice if it happens and it does not cost the airline anything. At least, one can rely on the fact that passengers in Economy with elite status on flights out of and into Düsseldorf will most likely receive no recognition by the crew at all.

United was this time okay, the most crews where better as their colleagues on previous flights and US Airways was again quite good. I have flown them on many occasions and the most reader know, that they are in average better than their colleagues on US Airways, which could be better but could be worse as well. Flying US Airways, you know what to expect. And this trip was no exception.
