Hilton Garden Inn Calabasas
The hotel is located close to freeway 101 and could be reached in app. 35 minutes by car from LAX without any traffic jam. During the day, you should calculate the double amount of time to reach the hotel.
Parking space is around the hotel free of charge.
The hotel has 142 rooms and is built in the typical style of a Hilton Garden Inn. It has two floors (ground floor and two additional floors) and is built in L shape. You enter the hotel through a sliding door. On the left hand side is the area, where in the morning breakfast is served. This hotel has no restaurant, but there are a few in the neighbourhood and the hotel seems to partner for them, because room service is delivered by one of these restaurants. On the right hand side are some sofas and lounge chairs
with tables and an open fireplace. The check in desk is behind this area. There are two counters, where guests could check in. Opposite is the pantry, where one can get the usual things like microwave food, beverage and travel accessories.
The interior is similar to the style you expect to find in a Hilton Garden Inn.
On the ground floor is also located the business centre, open 24 hours.
The gym is small, but the equipment was okay. Nothing ultra modern or any sort state of the art facilities, but in good condition and usable. However, if the hotel is fully booked and there are many guests using the gym for workout, it might become too small. The outdoor pool is open from 06.00 to 22.00 and could be reached through a door from the gym. In the gym is a changing room and towels are available as well as sun chairs. In addition to the pool, there is a small Jacuzzi. It seems the Jacuzzi is not heated
as it was cold
Breakfast is served as buffet. Breakfast is served during the week from 06.30 to 10.30 and on weekends from 07.00 to 12.00. Available are bagels, pastries, muffins, cereals, fruits, jam, marmalade, Philadelphia. Eggs with be prepared with additional sausage, bacon, potatoes.

I checked in around 18.30. Check in was done at this time by a trainee with the help of and senior agent. I got the voucher for the complimentary two bottles of water for all Hilton HHonors Gold, the voucher for breakfast and the key to my room. I got direction to the room and was told location and opening times of pool and gym.
My room was on the second floor facing the pool and the entrance to the hotel.
The style of the rooms was the “Hilton Garden Inn Style”. You enter the room and found yourself in the small hallway with the wardrobe with iron and ironing board on the left side and the bathroom on the right side. The bathroom was styled in a typical Hilton Garden Inn style, bath, toilet and sink. The bath had a with shower head with massage function. Unfortunately, like in the Homewood Suite, the showerhead was not working properly. The shower curtain was in a good condition. Three towels of each size were
provided. Bathroom amenities were available. I was happy to see a hairdryer of better and higher quality than the usual product, which could be found in too many hotel rooms.
The room features the unique board with fridge, coffee machine and microwave. On the right side the bed along with two bedside tables with reading lamps and the Hilton signature alarm clock with radio and phone on the left of the bedside tables. Beside the bed was a lounge chair with another lamp and a small table. On the other side, opposite the bed were the TV and the working desk with reading lamp, phone, and LAN port. If you need a cable you have to ask the front desk to get one. WLAN was also available in
the room. LAN and W-LAN were free of charge for guests staying in the hotel.
The furniture and the carpet were okay; I found only minor scratches on the furniture and no visible stains in the carpet.
The mattress was okay; I slept well. The number of pillows was – as usual – too big. What should I do with four pillows?
The usual problem again, there was no central switch for the lamps in the room. Each lamp has to be turned of individually.
Breakfast was okay, staff was friendly and attentive.
Check out was fast and efficient and I got the invoice with the amount of the prepaid rate.
