Hilton Kuala Lumpur

The Hilton Kuala Lumpur is just across the street from the KL Sentral Station, where the KLIA Airport Express is arriving. You could easily walk from the station to the hotel. The lobby of the hotel could be reached by two elevators. In addition there is a driveway for taxis and cars approaching the hotel. The driveway is clearly marked by signs. The hotel is part of a huge building complex with two high rise buildings, one is the Hilton the other one is the Le Meridien. The later one seems to be a little bit smaller, though the nearly have the same seize.

The lobby is on the fourth floor and is huge. There are several lounge chairs and one of the many restaurants (“Cosmo Lobby Lounge” and “Caffe Cino”) could be reached directly from the lobby. The check in desks are in comparison to the lobby rather small. A concierge desk is right aside the main entrance at the driveway. The elevators to the floors are behind the check in desk. One needs the keycard to reach the floors with the rooms.

The gym and the pool are on the 8th floor and shared with the Le Meridien next door. The pool is a freefrom pool and the biggest in the city (400 foot). A bit hidden in front of the gym is the Jacuzzi. Deck chairs are available and towels are provided to the guests.
The gym is also huge with several state of the art machines, more or less the “derniere cry” in term of work out and training facilities. The gym is open from 06.00 to 23.00 and also available to the public. Peak time is around noon and in the evening, but I have never seen it crowded during my recent visits. The gym hosts also a Spa. Water and towels are provided to the guests.
Staff was friendly and helpful.

The hotel has 13 meeting rooms for up to 1500 persons and a business centre.

The hotel has a number of restaurants, which are open either all day or only in the evening. The price level is low in comparison to other destinations, but high in comparison to other restaurants in Kuala Lumpur.

The style of the hotel is more design oriented and modern but also very representative. I like the more modern style more than the contemporary pomp style you find very often in Asia, esp. in China.

The concierge has been very helpful in giving directions to malls and places for high tea.

The hotel offers an Executive Club on the 35 floor where in the morning breakfast is served and in the evening between 18.00 and 20.00 hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Internet is free in the club lounge but only for a fee in the rooms.

We arrived around 19.00 in the hotel and approached check in. We were asked if we would like to check in downstairs or in the executive lounge since we were upgrade to executive floor due to having Hilton HHonors Gold status. We decided to check in downstairs. Our luggage was taken care of and we got the key to our room on the 30 floor.

The corridors of the hotel are a bit dark but look very stylish like the rest of the hotel.

The rooms are a bit difficult to describe. They are not small, but the room itself is more of smaller seize. How this could be? Well, the bathroom took the most of the room size.
You enter the room and standing in a longer hallway. On the one side is the entrance to the bathroom and after the entrance door the wardrobes. The wardrobes could be reached from either the corridor or the bathroom and work as a room divider. On the other side of the hallway are lights behind a panel, so the corridor has an indirect light and it gives the room a relay nice touch.
The bathroom had a toilet which is separated from the rest of the bathroom with a door. A telephone, loudspeakers and a newspaper rack (!) are in this part. The bathroom had a sink, a shower stall with a normal shower head and a rain shower and a bath. A nice gimmick: in the bathroom mirror is a small TV. The bathroom could be opened to the rest of the room by a sliding door, which gave the room a very spacious feeling.

The room features a LCD TV and a desk on the one side together with the minibar. On the other side are the two beds with bedside tables, telephone, and an alarm clock. A central switch is available to switch on the most lights from the bedside tables. Two reading lamps are in the ceiling above the beds.

The desk is big enough to work, but a bit more space would be nice to have, also another power outlet could not hurt.

Due to the size of the room it is a bit difficult to place the luggage in the room

The amenities were restocked daily and a turndown service was provided every evening. At this time an aroma candle was placed in the bathroom giving the room a smell of fresh lemon.

For guest of the executive floor cleaning of four pieces is free of charge. Unfortunately they damaged a polo shirt during laundry services. But the issue was resolved professionally by the manager responsible for housekeeping. Since it was not expensive I asked for some HHonors Points and they showed up after a month. Mail Exchange was professional and fast.

Staff is friendly and helpful. They sorted out our bookings which was mixed and checked us out and in daily without our presence and all points posted properly. Well done.

The executive lounge is the nicest I have experienced so far. It is a bit small, but we had no problem finding a seat. Hors d’oeuvres served in the evening changed daily and the selection is huge and restocked often. Available are also sweets and cheese as well as fruit and sushi.

The selection of drinks is also not bad, wine, beer, etc.. Though the buffet is self service wine is also served by staff. They offer a last refill before 20.00 and it seems to be possible to get a glass of wine after 20.00 also.

Breakfast is only available on the club lounge for guest of the club floor rooms. The selection is also huge and it’s a wider selection than many hotels offer at their usual breakfast buffet. Beverage is brought to the table, while some dishes like eggs, omelette or pancakes are prepared by staff in the “open kitchen”.

Service is attentive, though during breakfast sometimes a bit slow. But that might be my own impression, since I already have had a real high expectation at this hotel. And I have to say, they did not fail.

Check out was fast again, everything prepared in advance.

Definitively one of the best Hilton Hotel worldwide and the hotel could be proud of their staff. They are helpful and friendly, their English is excellent and they are doing just the right amount of small talk and do not disturb you. I will return as soon as possible.
