Holiday Inn Frankfurt Airport North
The Holiday-Inn Frankfurt Airport North is a former Queens Hotel, it was rebranded in 2003 as Queens Hotels joined the IC Franchise.
The hotel was built in the early 80’s and has seven floors, a big parking space is in front of the hotel. The hotel is situated in a forest in Frankfurt Niederrad near the airport. There is a scheduled shuttle to the airport every half an hour (5.30 to 22.30 h) and from the airport (5.45 to 22.45 h). One could reach the hotel by car, but it is a little bit difficult to reach by public transportation as there is no bus / tram stop nearby and one has to walk on a street through a forest which is during the night
very dark. The next tram stop would be “Rennbahn” and then you walk 10 minutes to the hotel. I do not recommend this hotel if the purpose of you stay is to visit the city of Frankfurt and you do not have a car with you, I highly recommend to choose another hotel (or you have to take a taxi returning to the hotel). It is a good hotel, if you have an early flight or a late arrival and prefer to stay near the airport the first night.
The hotel has a restaurant called “Brentano”, where the breakfast is from 6.30 to 10.30 served in the morning, a open air beer garden and a bar called “St. George”.
In the lobby and the nearby meeting rooms W-LAN is available (powered by Swissport), the rooms will hopefully be fitted in 2005. If you are lucky, you get a signal in the rooms in the first floor, which are located near the central elevators.
The lobby is spacious and offer some sofas and tables. The reception desk is facing the entry, right hand side is the entry to the beer garden and the floor to the bar, restaurant and meeting rooms.
The breakfast is served as extended continental breakfast. Available are scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon on the one hand, rolls, bread, cheese, jam / marmalade, cereals, cornflakes, fruit salad and several sorts of bread on the other hand. The basket with the rolls is placed near the entry, a worse place as one is disturbed by people entering or leaving the room.
In the first floor is the gym and the sauna, a very small place and crowed with only a few guests. If you use the fitness facilities you feel you disturb the people relaxing after sauna with the noise of the stepper, etc.

Check-In was average, I had to fill out the guest information and after I have done it, the staff noticed all dates were in the system (I asked before, if I really have to fill out everything – to be honest, it was a trainee and she apologized for her mistake)
The floors are not easy to reach by three elevators, but than you have to pass a long floor to reach your room.
I got a single room this time, which was small. Nice, you do not have to place you keycard in the power switch as there is card placed. After entering the room, there is the entry to the bathroom with toilet, washbasin and bath, The bathroom is quite big. Opposite the entry is the cupboard with safe and trouser press.
Opposite the single bed was a working desk with socket. The TV screen was right hand side, while left hand side was the place to put your suitcase. The window had an power sun shade and was air conditioned. The air condition was placed below the window and very noisy.
The breakfast was okay.

Check in was fast this time, only sign the guest information, everything else was prepared.
This time my room was near the elevator on the first floor, but this means a little bit noisy during the night due to the guest passing the door of my room.
This time I got a double, which was nice and bigger than the other room. Nice, you do not have to place you key card in the power switch as there is card placed, it seems this is not only a temporary solution.
After entering the room, there is the entry to the bathroom with toilet, washbasin and bath, The bathroom is quite big, but this time the shower curtain was old and had some stains on it.
Opposite the bed was a working desk with socket and the minibar right hand side. Tea and coffee facilities were also placed in the room. As the room was facing the garden (715 was facing the parking lot), there was no sun shade. In front of the window was a lounge char and a table. The nose of the beer garden was okay, I was not disturbed by it.
The TV screen was right hand side of the working desk.
As this rate does not include breakfast I choose not to have breakfast in the hotel.
First, it seems this was not a qualifying stay, but as I phoned the hotel the corrected it and I got the points and stays. They did not noticed, this was the June Online Sale, they thought I had a Expedient Rate (?), which was not qualifying for points.
