Park Plaza Eindhoven

The Park Plaza Eindhoven is located in the city center of Einhoven and easy to reach by car. From Einhoven Airport the hotel partners with a local shuttle service for a fee. The hotel offers parking; the access to the parking is controlled and has a direct exit from the lobby.

The hotel consists of two wings which are connected on the ground floor. The hotel offers 104 modern superior rooms, executive rooms and suites. All rooms like the rest of the hotel were completely restyled in 2011.

The main entrance to the hotel could be reached from a very small driveway, where one can unload the car. A revolving door leads to the spacious and modern lobby with the check in desk right across the entrance. There are sofas, armchairs and small tables in the lobby. On the left side is the E!lite Bar which is open to the lobby (i.e. not walls).
On the rights side of the check in desk are two elevators to the main building and the entrance to the pool / gym. The other wing could be reached through a hallway from the lobby.

The pool is medium sized with a locker room, two small saunas and also showers.
The gym is part of the pool area and basically it is part of the area around the pool which is divided by a glass wall – similar to e.g. the Sheraton Congress in Frankfurt. The gym is therefore quite small with a treadmill, a bike, a stepper and weights. Towels are available at the check in desk. The pool and gym is open daily from 07:00 to 22:00.

The hotel offers three meeting rooms for up to 75 delegates and 1 boardroom, each with natural daylight.

The hotel has a number of restaurants.
The “E!lite Lounge” serves light snacks and daily specials, also cocktails and others types of beverages. The hotel as a dedicated restaurant for breakfast which is adjacent to the exit to the parking and close to “E!lite Lounge”. Breakfast is served as American buffet. The hotel also offers 3 Asian restaurants, the “Mei Ling Restaurant” serves authentic Asian cuisine, the “Mandarin Garden” serves Cantonese and Mandarin fusions dishes. The “Momoyama Restaurant” offers sushi and sukiyaki and Japanese teppanyaki. The later dishes are prepared at the table in front of the guest. All restaurants are quite good and also visited by locals and reasonable priced. Staff is friendly and the most times attentive.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel.

I arrived around 19:10 at the hotel and parked my car. At the desk I was greeted and the reservation pulled from the system. I had to provide an ID and a credit card and only to sign the prefiiled form. I noticed that the rate was not mentioned on the form, but the agent confirmed the rate as the same than in my confirmation e-mail and added it to the form. The features of the hotel were explained and I was offered an upgrade for 10 EUR, which I declined, as I wanted to see what the basic room looked like. The way to my room was explained.

The hallways in the wing my where room was located was a bit dark. There were colored LED lights at the wall which changed colors every 60 seconds or so. Nice feature, but I would have preferred a simple brighter light.

The room had no small hallway which led into the room like the most average hotel rooms. In this hotel one was basically right in the room. The entrance area was quite wide and opens to the main room. Next to the entrance door was the closet with iron and ironing board followed by a place to store the luggage and then a small fridge, tea and coffee facilities and in room safe. The fridge was empty and the hotel offers to stock it on request of the guest for the usual (minibar) prices.  A in room safe was provided.

On the other side was the entrance to the bathroom. The bathroom was more of the small side and all white. It was partly modernized and has a large shower stall on the one side with a glass panel but no door or curtain. Therefore one could not avoid water dripping on the floor, but it is okay and I have experienced worse arrangements. On the opposite side was the sink with a lot of space to store belongings. A small vanity mirror was on the left side, however the position was quite low and I would have preferred it in a higher position or adjustable in height. On the right side was the hairdryer. There was only one towel rack in the shower stall and only one board at the left side of the big mirror behind the sink. There are no hangers on the left or right side of the sink to place a towel. As written, the bathroom is all white and although the sink is an older one and was not exchanged during renovation, it was in good condition.

The room was medium sized and had a small working desk on the left side with a wall mounted flat TV. Thankfully on a higher position, so that one is not looking on the screen of the TV while working. International sockets are available at the desk (Europe, UK and Asia) with 230 V, no 110 V US socket though. A desk lamp is available. The chair was a standard one, no real desk chair. And the desk was quite small in term of width. If one had a bigger laptop it might be a bit difficult to place it on the desk. But otherwise it was large enough to store papers and other document while working.

In front of the window was an arm chair with a small table and a lamp.

The bed was two single beds put side by side. Two bedside tables with small lamps were on the left and right side of the beds. On one of them was the telephone. A central switch for all lights in the room - except the lights at the desk - was at the bedside table.

The design of the room was modern with a combination of white wall, purple curtain and a brown and grey carpet which matches the design of the blanket on the bed. A core component of the room design was the use of indirect lighting. There was a small Led panel behind the bed, above the window and at the desk.

The design of the room was nice and I have not really missed anything. The Nespresso machne, which is a feature of the Executive rooms, would be nice, but not necessary. The rooms were quiet and the mattress comfortable.

I also received a nice amenity, a small bottle of wine and some sweets and do not really know why. From my understanding of the terms and conditions of Club Carlson this is only a benefit for Club Carlon Gold and Concierge Members. Anyway, it was a nice gift.

Check out was fast and efficient and I was asked if everything was okay. I left early and had not the time to sample the breakfast, so I could not comment on quality. But the restaurants are good, so I assume breakfast is good as well.

Given the location of the hotel in the centre and with easy access to the motorway and offering benefits like pool and gym, it was a nice place. The minus was the bad lighting in the hallway to the room and the need to pass the lobby to reach the pool if one is in a side wing.

I will consider it again if I have to stay in Eindhoven.
