Le Meridien Stuttgart
The Le Meridien is located at Schloßgarten Park, only a few steps from the main station and the beginning of the pedestrian zone.
The hotel is the former Intercontinental Hotel and was rebranded as Le Meridien some years ago. It a new and modern building and part of a complex, which also hosts some offices in the rear part of the building.
The hotel has a parking garage with very narrow ramps. I was in the need of the park distance control system of my rental car to avoid contact with the wall.
The lobby is in the centre of the hotel and the hotel has two wings. The two wings are not connected in the lower floors, but in the higher floors. That means it is not that easy to go from one to the other wing in the lower floors, as you have either to take the elevator up or down. The lobby is spacious and offers some lounge chairs. There are several desks available for checking in and out and a separate elevator on the right side for the access to the parking garage. On the right side is also the entrance
to the bar “Lillet” and the restaurant. In the restaurant is also served breakfast in the morning as extended buffet.
In the basement of the left wing is the huge pool area with a pool and sauna and steam room. Towels are provided and it is also possible to book a massage. Locker rooms are also available as well as showers. A gym with modern equipment is also available. This is really a nice area and it is open to the public, but was during my visit not overcrowded. But I was never alone in this area. The steambath however could have been a bit warmer.

I checked in around 15:00 and since no one was queuing in front of me, I had my room keys in seconds. The way to my room was explained as well as the time breakfast was offered in the restaurant in the morning.
My room was the type I have had booked, so no upgrade. Something I discovers quite often during this year. I got some upgrades in the past even as SPG Gold, but that did not happened this year and this was a reason why I decided to give up requalifying for Gold. It is not worth to spend ten nights only to get some more points but no other perks.
The room was of average size. The style was modern but the room was a typical hotel room with a corridor with the entrance to the bathroom and the closet. The bathroom was modern and had a huge shower but no bath. As I prefer a shower over a bath, this was okay, especially as this shower had a rainforest shower. The sink was modern with a mirror behind, which became foggy after a shower. Bathroom amenities were provided and a bathrobe and slippers were available was well.
The room had the bed on the right side with two bedside table and reading lamps. A lounge chair was placed in front of the window facing the back and therefore had limited view. A desk was placed on the left side with a chair and another reading lamp. A flat TV was hanging on the wall.
Room facilities like trouser press and minibar and safe were built into special board and hidden by doors. I missed tea and coffee facilities.
The bed was comfortable. A turn down service was not offered.
The chair at the desk was a bit too low and not that comfortable for working at the desk. The desk was of average seizing, but it was okay for working with a laptop, the space for accessories was in this case however limited.
Breakfast in the morning in the restaurant was okay. The hotel was full and several rooms were available in addition to the main restaurant. The breakfast was offered as buffet and had a selection of hot dieses like scrambled eggs, hashed potatoes, bacon, sausages and it was also possible to get an omelette and other dishes prepared by a cook. Salmon, cheese, sausages, marmalade and jam were available as cold dishes and pastries or different types of cereals. Sparkling wine was offered and different sorts of
juices. A selection above the average selection and off good quality. Tea was available as self service, while coffee was brought to the table by hotel staff. Staff was attentive.
The breakfast and the pool area were the highlights of this hotel. Service during check in and out was as usual. A bit disappointing was the lack of any sort of upgrade or recognition as SPG Gold. SO I god what I booked and since this was not really a cheap stay, it think it is not really worth to pay that much money only to have a pool and a good breakfast. It’s a nice hotel, but the rates have to be significantly cheaper, if I will stay there again. Since one is close to downtown Stuttgart, there are many alternatives
for breakfast in the city, so there is not really a reason to have breakfast in the restaurant.
