Lai Lai Sheraton
The
Lai Lai Sheraton was undergoing a major renovation and
the left wing (with the atrium) is undergoing this renovation in the
moment, while the right wing is followed later on. So the lobby is in
the moment somewhat small and temporarily right hand side.
To
reach the Executive Club and the Gym on the 17
floor, one had to go first to the 5
floor and went to the opposite side of the hotel and change elevators
to reach the 17
floor.
The Gym is well equipped, not modern, but usable
without problems. I used it in the evening, for an hour and it was
not very crowed. The gym is open 6.00 am to 9.00 pm.
The pool
was closed up to the morning of the 13th
April; I visited it Tuesday morning at 6.30 a.m., but the water was
cold and I just had some lanes and returned to my room. The pool is
open 6.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. (?).
Buffet Breakfast was served
in the Executive Club every day in the time 7.00 am – 10.00 a.m..
Stays: 09 April 2004
Visited on Taiwan Trip 2004
For your information: Due to the renovation the pictures are not up to date anymore.

I
get a room to the front side on the SPG floor in the 15
floor, which was big; it seems to me, they upgrade me to a bigger
room than booked. Although a little bit worn out, it was very
comfortable; only the bed was hard. There was an internet connection,
which I could not use because my equipment (Psion) does not fit. The
fruit basket was refilled every day, but I only get complimentary
water in the first two days.
In the moment, due to the
renovation, one could not see satellite channels like CNN or DWTV and
get only Chinese News Channels and an English Speaking Sport Channel,
but one could hear the tone of CNN on the radio, which is little bit
funny.
As I entered the room for the first time and looked
outside, I saw the big illuminated Sheraton Sing just in front of my
window. But it was turned off every day at 11 pm and the curtain was
very dark, so this was not a problem.
I get a copy of the
China Post – a Taiwanese English Newspaper – every morning at
6.45 a.m..
The bathroom with bath was normal, the amenities
were refilled every day.
Nevertheless
I enjoyed my stay in the Sheraton, as the hotel is located near the
main station and only 50 meters to an MRT station (Shandao Temple
Station).
